About A-Systems
A-Systems has been making accounting software longer than anyone. Our software was first offered to the public clear back in 1978, giving us 46 years of experience.
Our software was originally requested by a large, successful contractor. He needed the ability to closely track all of his expenses on a job-by-job basis, and the basic spreadsheets of the time were not sufficient. This was, after all, the early days of computing. Fortunately, the contractor was able to find Mike Wise, a brilliant computer programmer. Mike was tasked with creating an accounting system that would be built from the ground up to meet the needs of the construction industry. Mike collaborated with the contractor, along with a CPA, to make sure every base was covered. The result was Contractor III, the early DOS version of A-Systems software.
Many decades later, A-Systems software has become an even more powerful tool for job costing, rich with time-saving features. Our loyal base of contractors has given us great feedback over the years, and we've implemented many of their best suggestions. Contractors are relieved to hear how many of their specific needs are met by A-Systems software.
Tracking Expenses
Construction work is filled with expenses. With all the materials, including lumber, fasteners, insulation, wiring, flooring, sheetrock, and more, it can be easy to lose track of costs. This can make it tough to know if a job is profitable or not until all the dust has settled and the job is finished. This is where estimating and job costing come to the rescue.
Getting a good, solid estimate is lays the framework for a profitable construction job. By accurately estimating costs, you'll be able to give better bids, ensuring you have sufficient profit built into the job. A-Systems JobView can import your estimates, giving you a budget to work with. As expenses roll in and the job moves on, these costs are tracked in the software. A-Systems automatically compares these expenses with your budget. This gives you essential insights into your finances, because you can see where your out of budget early on, rather than finding unwanted surprises further down the road. You can keep your project on track by watching these job costing reports and seeing where you're over or under budget.
Accurately tracking job costing data can make the difference between a successful contractor and a bankrupt company.
Job Costing reports are incredibly valuable to a contractor. They are used in the office and in the field to keep everyone on the same page.
