Interfacing With Xactware Products

Estimating products from Xactware can interface directly with JobView without the need for exporting or importing text files. The interface is designed to retrieve estimate information and convert it to a job budget in JobView. This help topic will refer specifically to Xactimate; however, XactRemodel is also equipped with the transfer capability.

Before an estimate is transferred from Xactimate to JobView, a few setup items must be completed on the JobView side. Estimates transferred from Xactimate will be grouped into item categories represented by the standard 3-digit Xactimate item code structure. JobView must either be equipped with a cost code dictionary made up of Xactimate 3-digit codes, or a dictionary with an equivalency table tying the Xactimate codes to the JobView Cost Code Dictionary.

If the Cost Code Dictionary is a replica of the Xactimate item code structure, no further JobView setup is required. If, however, another cost code dictionary is being used, refer to the Cost Codes help topic for instructions on creating an equivalency table.

Transferring From Xactimate

Below are instructions for transferring an estimate from Xactimate to JobView. For any questions regarding the availability or use of this feature within Xactimate, contact Xactware.

First, open Xactimate and select the project to be transferred. Open the project. From the Window drop menu, select JobView Communicate. If a JobView Communicate item does not exist in the Window drop menu, contact Xactware for more information. The following window will appear:

Company (drop list)

From this drop list, select the desired JobView company.

Detail Level (radio buttons)

Select the level of detail to export.

Customer (radio buttons)

If the customer already exists in the JobView customer file, select Existing and choose the customer from the drop list. Otherwise, select New and provide a customer name.

Job (radio buttons)

If the project to be transferred already exists as a job in JobView, select Existing and choose the job from the drop list. Otherwise, select New and give the job a Name and a Job ID number. If a new job is to be created, remember that the Job ID number must conform to JobView's Job Numbering convention (i.e. the correct number of digits).

Click OK and all the project details will be transferred to JobView, creating a budget either on the existing job or on a new job created by the transfer program.
