Setup: Installing the ODBC Driver

To access the ODBC installation program, click on Setup and select the bottom option, Install ODBC Driver. Before continuing with the installation, click on the Help button and review (possibly print) the instructions as a reference if it is necessary.

This program will install the Top Speed ODBC Driver, which allows data files from the accounting program to be read by other applications.

The installation starts at this screen:

To install the driver, click the Proceed button. The following screen will appear:

Follow the install program prompts to install the ODBC driver.

On this window enter the serial number received from A-Systems. Follow the remining program prompts. When the installation is complete, the following window will appear:

Installation of the driver is now complete.

Topspeed Data Source Name Configuration

At this point, the user should complete the additional step of setting up a Data Source. Setting up the Data Source is what allows other Windows programs to view accounting system data. If the data source is not set up at this time, it may be done later by following the instructions at the bottom of this topic.

From the Windows Start button, select Control Panel > System and Security > Administrative Tools > Data Sources (ODBC) and select the Drivers tab. The following screen will appear.

Click the Add button and the following screen will appear:

Select Topspeed ODBC Driver (Read-Only) and click the Finish button. The system will now bring up the Data Source Name Configuration screen displayed below:

Enter the Name, Description and Database fields as shown above.

Special Considerations for 64 Bit Operating Systems

A 32 bit ODBC driver like the TopSpeed ODBC Driver can be installed on a 64 bit Windows operating system. However, when you reach the Topspeed Data Source Name Configuration step described above, the driver won't show up in the Data Sources window because this tool displays only 64 bit drivers.

If this is the case, use Windows Explorer to navigate to the C:\Windows\SysWOW64 folder. The window will look like this:

Now find the odbcad32.exe program and execute it. This will run a program that looks the same as the ODBC Data Source Administrator window above, but this time the program will find the 32 bit Topspeed ODBC Driver.
